Jan Gleason

Funeral services for Jan Gleason, age 67, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Michael Moreno will officiate, with interment in New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk. 

The funeral service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Jan passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Janice was born February 22, 1957, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Walter D. and Gladys L. (Gall) Spaulding. She attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School.

On April 21, 1978, Jan married Wayne Gleason at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The couple was blessed with three daughters, Kara, Natalie, and Alison. 

Early on, Jan worked as a teacher’s aide and assisted the lunch program at Christ Lutheran School. Later in her career, she worked as a bank teller at the Elkhorn Valley Bank & Trust location at Hy Vee East in Norfolk. 

Jan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching all Husker sports and anything the grandchildren participated in. Jan enjoyed vacation trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to visit extended family.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Kara Gleason of Lincoln, Natalie (Chris) Kelsay of Gretna, and Alison (Nick) Becker of Gretna; grandchildren, Harper Kelsay, Avery Kelsay, Rhett Kelsay, Aiden Becker, and Ella Becker; siblings, Douglas Spaulding of Norfolk, Laurie (Terry) Skoglund of Norfolk, Dana (Lori) Spaulding of Norfolk, Kris (Kevin) Woockman of Sioux City, IA, and Darin (Kristin) Spaulding of Norfolk; brother-in-law, Matt Wulf of Norfolk; mother-in-law, Francis Gleason of Darlington, SC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patsy (Donnie) Brown, Billy (Lori) Gleason and Shelia Spencer all of Mullins, SC, Franklin (Candace) Gleason of Darlington, SC, Rhoda (Rick) Wilson of Georgetown, SC, Edwina (Ed) Baird and Fran Collins both of Darlington, SC; and nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, David Spaulding, Denis Spaulding, and Mary Wulf; sister-in-law, Darlene Spaulding; nephew, Adam Spaulding; father-in-law, Rhett Gleason; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Jean Norman. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran School.
