Mass of Christian Burial for Jared Josef Hastings, age 34, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Brian Hula will be celebrant, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service.

Jared passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, at University of Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jared Josef Hastings was born February 1, 1991, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Josef “Joe” and Jeanette (Daily) Hastings. He graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in 2009 and earned a welding degree from Northeast Community College.
Jared was married to Ashley, and they were blessed with children, Briggs, Bronson, and stepdaughter Brooklynn. The couple later divorced.
He worked for the railroad and later on at Nucor.
Jared enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. He loved spending time with his children and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe; grandparents, Howard and Bernadette Daily and Dean and Florence Hastings; aunt, Kathy Uhing; and uncle, Dan Daily.
Jared is survived by his mother, Jeanette; children, Briggs and Bronson; stepdaughter, Brooklynn; sister, Jodi Hastings of Norfolk; brother, Jake (Paige) Hastings of Norfolk; nephews, Tucker, Charlie, and Bennett; nieces, Oaklyn and Suttyn; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In keeping with Jared’s style, casual dress is welcomed.
Memorials are requested to the family for future designation.
