Jerry Arthur Weatherholt passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Parsons House Assisted Living Center in Omaha.

Jerry was born on January 22, 1939, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Orin and Ethel (Barr) Weatherholt. He attended Rural District #13 through the eighth grade and graduated from Stanton High School in 1956. After attending the University of Nebraska for two years, Jerry returned home to Stanton to pursue his lifelong passion for farming and cattle feeding.

On August 3, 1958, Jerry was united in marriage to Jeanette Pohlman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Together, they raised four children, Scott, Rick, Jane, and Doug, on the family farm. Jerry spent over 40 years farming and feeding cattle and also worked as a seed corn representative for several companies.

His success in sales allowed him and Jeanette to enjoy numerous memorable trips over the years. Following his retirement from active farming, Jerry continued custom feeding cattle and served as a Stanton County Commissioner from 2005 until 2015.

A dedicated community member, Jerry was a charter member and longtime Elder of Faith Lutheran Church. He served as president of the District #13 rural school board, was a former president of the Mustang Booster Club, and a longtime member of the Nebraska Beef Club. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Elkhorn Acres Golf Course for many years. Jerry was also an avid Nebraska football fan, holding season tickets for over 60 years. He loved many sports and proudly cheered any team his children or grandchildren played for.

Jerry was well known for his social nature. He was a fixture at local coffee spots throughout his life, most recently becoming a regular at Wolf’s Den, where he cherished the daily friendships formed over breakfast.

Jerry was a man who truly lived for his family, viewing them as his greatest achievement and his favorite company. To him, there was no better way to spend a holiday or family event than surrounded by the energy and laughter of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his children, Rick (Bobbie) Weatherholt of Lincoln, Jane (Sean) Pinhero of Omaha, and Doug (Jackie) Weatherholt of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Weatherholt of Stanton; sister, Ann (Jack) Brestel of Silverthorne, CO; sisters-in-law, Linda Weatherholt of Columbus, OH, Karen Phillips of Omaha, and Jean Pohlman of Sun Prairie, WI; 11 grandchildren, Luke (Jen) Weatherholt, Curt (Jaime) Weatherholt, Brent (Megan) Weatherholt, Chelsie (Chris) Avery, Tyler (Danni) Weatherholt, Kelsey (Austin) Kochsmeier, Ian Pinhero, Erin (Jordan) Reeves, Orin, Quin, and Keaton Weatherholt; 11 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanette; his parents; his son, Scott; his brother, Bill; in-laws Loren and Erna Pohlman; and brothers-in-law, Don Pohlman and Ron Phillips.
