A Celebration of Life for JoAnn Brown, age 76, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Michael Moreno will officiate, with private family burial in New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

JoAnn Brown, born on July 4, 1947, in Norfolk to Willard and Maxine (Hille) Stuckwisch, passed away June 10, 2024, at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska. JoAnn's early years were spent in Norfolk, where she was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. She attended Grant Elementary as well as Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School.
JoAnn’s love for learning led her to Concordia in Seward, Nebraska where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree, followed by a Master's Degree in Education from Central Missouri State University. She pursued her teaching career in Missouri, where she was blessed with her four children: Aaron, Amy, Nathan, and Sarah.
In 1985, JoAnn returned to Norfolk and became a beloved baker at the Cookie Company in the Sunset Plaza Mall. She then moved onto managing Daylight Donuts until 1998 where she was loved, respected and would always lend a listening ear to her fellow co-workers. JoAnn also worked at the Norfolk Daily News, where she delivered papers, forming lasting connections with everyone on her route, including their furry family members.
JoAnn's life was characterized by her service to others and her genuine love for people. She was a talented baker with a penchant for sweet treats, delighting her children with unique recipes, especially her homemade hot chocolate. Her kitchen, fondly known as Ma Brown's Kitchen, was a place of warmth and love. JoAnn also cherished Friday game nights with her cousin, Gary Drefke, a lifelong friend. Their spirited game nights were a highlight in her life, and her children eagerly awaited stories of her victories and defeats.
JoAnn's greatest devotion was to her family. Her children and their friends always knew they could count on her, day or night. She was a strong woman and a fierce protector of her loved ones.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Aaron Brown of Concordia, Missouri, Amy Brown (Nora Dirkx) of Carroll, Iowa, Nathan Brown of Norfolk, and Sarah (Chad) Bauermeister of Norfolk; her grandchildren, Clay (Mackenzie) Brown and Aidan Consoli; step-great-granddaughter, Paisley Bacon; great-grandson, Kysen Brown; her sister, Jan (Duane) Harris; brother, Merlin (Sue) Stuckwisch; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Maxine Stuckwisch of Norfolk; and her dear friend, Gailan Kruse.
JoAnn's legacy is one of love, service, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her memory will not be forgotten.
