Memorial Services for JoEllen Mandl, age 73, of Stanton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Nancy Jacobs, PMA will officiate, with inurnment in Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation with family will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Home for Funerals – Stanton is in charge of arrangements.
Jo passed away on June 28, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.
JoEllen Mandl was born on March 4, 1951, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Norman and LaVern (Roenfeldt) Lehman. She was raised in Stanton, Nebraska and graduated from Stanton High School in 1969.
Jo married Joseph Mandl on July 31, 1971, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Stanton. From this marriage, they have two children: Amy Kleinschmit of Stanton and Scott Mandl who passed away in 2005.
Jo worked various jobs throughout her life from the Rialto movie theater, cafe, Districts 81 and 36, and the County Superintendent's office all in Stanton to being a rural mail carrier in Norfolk.
Jo was a 30 - year member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3602 in Stanton. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes.
Jo's greatest devotion was to her family. She enjoyed vacationing, going back and forth with her husband to their place in Texas, and planning trips with her grandchildren. She would often be seen helping her granddaughters with 4-H and school projects. She was a wonderful cook and carried on her mother's baking. Jo was often seen attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities to cheer them on.
Jo is survived by her husband, Joseph and daughter, Amy of Stanton; granddaughters, Taylor Kleinschmit and Amber (PJ) Anderson of Stanton, Cori (Dakotah) Kleinschmit of Dakota City, and Madison (Nick) Kleinschmit of Fremont; great-grandchildren, Karmyn Grimes, Hayslee Kluver, Hayden Kluver, and baby Anderson; sisters, Linda (Bob) Wegener of Bassett, Jeanette (Stanley) Hasenkamp of Stanton, and Karen (Dana) Andersen of Albion; brother, Dale (Linda) Lehman of Stanton; along with many remaining relatives whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and LaVern Lehman; and son, Scott Mandl.
