Joyce Dvorak Obituary

Graveside services for Joyce L. Dvorak, age 78, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Pierce, Nebraska. Pastor Tim DeFor will officiate.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

She passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Accura HealthCare of Pierce.

Joyce Lucille Dvorak was born February 9, 1948, in Grand Junction, Iowa to Kemp and Doris (Sufficool) Taylor. She grew up on the family farm and then moved to Bloomfield and later to Norfolk.

On September 9, 1968, Joyce married Loren Beckner in Nebraska. They were blessed with four children: Dave, Steve, Nancy, and John. The couple later divorced.

On February 9, 1995, Joyce married Ed Dvorak in San Diego, California. The couple loved to travel throughout the United States and Europe. In the summer, Ed and Joyce enjoyed spending time gardening.

Joyce loved watching her kids grow up. She always wanted to be a mother. When her kids were older, she enjoyed how they would all gather for holidays. Joyce raised her kids in church and made sure they had a great foundation of faith in God. It was a constant throughout their lives as they grew.

Over the years, Joyce worked at Sherwood Medical, then as store clerk for Lynn & Sons Grocery, and finally as a CNA at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.

After the death of her adopted mother, Doris Taylor, Joyce was able to reunite with her birth mother, Virginia Malone, in California, shortly before Virginia’s death.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Stephanie) Beckner of Lincoln, Steve (Debby) Beckner of Laurel, MD, Nancy (Matt) Meier of Hoskins, and John (Laly) Beckner of Norfolk; eleven grandchildren, Drake, Devin, Davis, Madelyn, Dawson, Molly, Blake, Destini, Kyli, Bria, and Nabil; and six great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Dvorak; brother, Ron Taylor; and former husband, Loren Beckner.
