Funeral Services for Katherine L. Davids, age 80, of Fremont, Nebraska, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Peace Evangelical Church, 84512 560th Avenue, Norfolk. Pastor Clark Jenkinson will officiate, with burial in the Danish Cemetery in rural Plainview, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals – Stanton, 804 Jackpine.
Katherine died Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at The Heritage at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont.
Katherine Louise was born October 28, 1943, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Iryl Andrew and Marguerite Katherine (Chaney) Svenson. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1961.
On July 7, 1963, Katherine married Steven Edward Davids at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with four sons: Scott, Kurt, Paul, and Kory. The family lived in the Hoskins and Norfolk area until 1979, when they moved to Baldwin City, Kansas.
Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved raising African Violets.
For ten years, she worked as a cook and dishwasher for the Baldwin City Kansas Public Schools. Then, she worked for the Cygnet Fabric and Quilting Store in Baldwin City for seven years.
Following retirement in 2015, Katherine and Steven moved to Fremont, Nebraska.
Katherine was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church in Fremont. She helped construct the Worden Methodist Church in Worden, KS, where they were longtime members. Katherine served as President of the African Violet Club in Hoskins, Nebraska and the Maple Leaf Quilting Guild in Baldwin City, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Steven; sons, Scott (Jennifer) Davids of Andover, KS, Kurt (Katherine) Davids of Topeka, KS, Paul (Laura) Davids of Spring Hill, KS, and Kory Davids of the Philippines; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roger (Jean) Svenson of Bakersfield, CA.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
