Mass of Christian Burial for Larry D. Christensen, age 84, of Kearney, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Madison, Nebraska. Reverend Vincent Germace will be the celebrant, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
Larry Dean Christensen passed away at his home on February 23, 2025.
Larry was born in Columbus, Nebraska on May 29,1940, an only child, born to Al and Evelyn Christensen. Larry married his high school sweetheart, Donna Pfeifer on August 1, 1959, and they were married for 65 years. From this marriage, they had three loving children, Kenneth, Kevin, and Kelli.
Larry graduated from Madison High School in 1958 and attended Hastings College and Norfolk Community College. Larry graduated from Northeast School of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a medical technologist degree in May 1960.
Larry worked at various towns and locations as a medical lab technologist for several years. He was an administrator at the Oxford Hospital and then moved to Gothenburg, NE to be the Hospital Administrator for many years. He oversaw the building of the new Gothenburg Hospital which was built in the middle of a cornfield and cost less than $1 million to build. After leaving the Gothenburg Hospital, Larry had his own business doing monthly medical billing and accounting for over 30 clinics traveling multiple states. Larry and Donna then moved to Wayne, NE where Larry was administrator of a medical clinic, and he ended up merging two clinics in four different towns and built a new clinic up by the hospital. Larry worked his last five years before retiring, as the administrator of Family Practice Associates in Kearney, NE.
Larry loved working with numbers and keeping track of the stock market. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and brought smiles to many. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards with friends from the extension club, and going to the Casino.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Evelyn Christensen; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Magdalen Pfeifer; son, Kevin Christensen and daughter-in-law, Kay Christensen; great-granddaughter, Eva Ackerman.
Larry is survived by his wife, Donna Christensen of Kearney, Nebraska; son, Kenneth Christensen and his wife, Nancy of Gothenburg, Nebraska; daughter, Kelli Ackerman and her husband, Rick of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Stacy (Andy) Kubik, Isaac (Andrea) Christensen, Eric (Tiffany) Christensen, Tiffany (Andrew) Elliott, Patrick (Elizabeth) Ackerman, and Luke (Jenna) Ackerman; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
