Leo A. Reznicek

May 9, 1943 ~ April 27, 2019 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Mass of Christian Burial for Leo A. Reznicek, 75, Madison, will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Madison.  Reverend Gregory Carl will be the celebrant.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Military honors conducted by the Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard with American Legion Post 35, VFW Post 5763 and the American Legion Post 16 Riders.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m., Rosary at the church.  Resseguie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leo Anthony passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Leo was born May 9, 1943 in Howells, NE to his parents Ernest and Wylma (Dostal) Reznicek.  He attended school in David City and graduated Marietta High School east of Bellwood. 

Leo met the love of his life, Patricia Smutny, and the couple married on November 23, 1963 at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Madison.

He served in the U.S. Army from June of 1961 until June of 1964.  Leo was stationed at Ft. Riley and served in Germany. 

After his military service, the couple made their home in Dodge, NE from 1964 until 1974, he worked in the plumbing business and ran Pat and Leo’s Bar and Grill. 

In 1974, the family moved to Norfolk and Leo worked in the pest control business and then the Co-Op and the Madison County Fairgrounds before retirement. 

In 1990, the couple settled back into the Madison area and Leo’s dream came true of running his own small farm acreage.  He raised geese, chickens, ducks and cows.  Leo enjoyed the country life.

He was very active in St. Leonard’s Church Choir and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, children Annette (Bob) Sanderson of Denison, IA, Greg Reznicek of Littleton, CO, Tim (Judy) Reznicek of Omaha, and John (Sherri) Reznicek of Tabor, IA, grandchildren Amanda, Joshua, Ashley, Jordon and Robby, great grandchildren Maximus, Caden, Barrett, and Charlie Grace, siblings Delores Yosten of Grand Island, Donald (Marcia) Reznicek of Ord, Linda (James) Havelka of North Bend, Bonnie (Marvin) Evert of Lincoln, Kathy Thompson of Washington, IA, and Joan Reznicek of Scribner, sister-in-law Dianne Reznicek of Lincoln along with a host of other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, in-laws Edwin Smutny, Mary Daniel and Leon Daniel, and brothers-in-law Rudy Smutny and Merlin Yosten.
