Leona C. Kasik

Mass of Christian Burial for Leona C. Kasik, age 97, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Patrick McLaughlin will be celebrant, with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery in West Point, Nebraska.  Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

She passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk. 

Leona Christina was born February 16, 1927, in West Point, Nebraska to Anton and Margreth (Elmer) Goebel. She attended rural school in Cuming County and graduated from Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked at the St. James Orphanage and Northwestern Bell in Omaha and sewed for Mode O’ Day in Fremont, Nebraska.  Leona came to Norfolk in 1968 and worked for Dale Electronics until her retirement in 1990.

She married Edwin Wulf on January 15, 1946. He preceded her in death.  Leona married Norman Kasik on October 26, 1973.

She was a member of the Catholic Altar Society, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hats, and the Busy Annies.

Leona loved to sew, garden, cook and can, especially peaches. She collected a large variety of dolls. She made over 300 quilts and pillows for family, friends, and people with health issues. Leona was always spunky and a bright light in the lives of so many.

Leona is survived by her son, Les (Barb) Wulf of Blunt, SD; daughter, Sandy Pakan of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Schulzkump of Lincoln; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; siblings, William (Marge), Alphonse (Alvina and Donna), Martin (Diana), and Sr. M. Rosita; and brother-in-law, Orion Schulzkump.
