Linda L. (Ney) Hughes

Mass of Christian Burial for Linda L. (Ney) Hughes, age 73, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Reverend Gregory Carl will be the celebrant.  Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue.  Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hughes passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Stonegate in Parker, CO.

She was born April 10, 1947, to Anthony and Evelyn Mousel-Ney in Primghar, IA.

She attended Elementary and High School in Primghar, IA.  Graduated with honors from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in 1965.

She married Robert Phillip Hughes on October 10, 1970 in Primghar, IA.

She worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA before moving to Norfolk in 1977 where she worked for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and became a school nurse for ESU #8 servicing the rural schools of Northeast NE.  She was an active member of the Norfolk chapter of PEO.

She is survived by her brother John Ney of Arnolds Park, IA; sister Mary Bofenkamp of Cherokee, IA; sister Susan Hill of Cherokee, IA; brother Patrick Ney of Arnolds Park, IA; children Jeff Hughes, Teresa Hughes Determan, and Russell Hughes all of Denver, CO; and her beloved grandchildren Maeve and Cash Determan also of Denver, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband Diamond Bob, her parents; sister Flora Jean and nephew Brian Bofenkamp.

The family requests memorials be sent to the Norfolk Catholic Schools Foundation.
