Funeral services for Louise M. Kruger, age 84, of Madison, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. Reverend Todd Kollbaum will officiate, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison.
The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Louise died Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Louise Marie Kruger, daughter of Fredrick and Rita (Schwagmeyer) Neusiis, was born September 4, 1940, in Logansport, Indiana. Louise grew up in New Haven, Indiana and was confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven. She graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1958. After graduation, she worked at Magnavox and Groth’s women’s clothing store before moving to Chicago with her sister, Paula in 1960.
While living in Chicago, Louise met Darrel Zessin. They were married on September 12, 1963, and were blessed with two children. After their marriage, Louise and Darrel moved to a farm near Madison, Nebraska. He passed away in 1970.
In 1971, Louise married Gene Kasik. Gene passed away in 1987. After Gene’s death, Louise was united in marriage to James Kruger in 1990. They lived in Hadar for 20 years before relocating to Madison in 2015.
Louise loved gardening and cleaning and was very meticulous. She always made sure everything was ironed and mended properly, even teaching the next two generations of her family. She enjoyed decorating her home and it was always ready for guests. Her family was her pride and joy. Louise was also very proud of celebrating 35 years of sobriety. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison.
Louise is survived by her husband, Jim Kruger; children, Vicki (Alan) Blank and Rodney (Jennifer) Zessin; stepdaughters, Connie (Eric) Esbenson, Kris (Greg) Kannel, and Tracy (Otto) Avvakumovits; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild with two more on the way; siblings, Paula (Jerry)Schmidt of Fort Wayne, IN, Liz (Jim) Eggert of Holt, MI, and Tom (Jennie) Neusiis of Spring Lake, MI; and brother-in-law, Jerry Dietrich of Morristown, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Darrel Zessin and Gene Kasik; and sisters, Lois and Eunice.
