Mae Georgalea Halsey, age 89 of Plainview formerly of Magnet died Saturday August 22, 2020 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. She was born May 3, 1931 the daughter of Herman and Anna (Menkens) Naber. She attended one rural school all eight years at District #100 in Knox County. It was a short distance from the Hurst Stafford Church about nine miles northeast of Bloomfie1d.
Mae was baptized in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in B1oomfield. Many years later she was confirmed on Apri1 15, 1973, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church west of Pender at the age of 42.
Mae graduated from Magnet High schoo1 in May of 1949. She then attended Wayne State that summer and began teaching that fall in a rural school near Pierce.
In 1958, she obtained a rural school near Pender in Thurston County.
On May 12, 1962, Mae married Lyle Halsey. She received her B.A. Degree from Wayne State in 1970. She taught five years in the Beemer and Bancroft Public Schools in 1978, she taught at Menominee and a rural school in Ewing. In 1981, she sold Avon, receiving her ten year plate in June of 1991.
Mae was a resident of Plainview Manor for the last 11 years. She enjoyed music, activities and church services there. She regarded the staff as family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Herman Naber, a brother, George Naber; and her former spouse Lyle.
