Maria D. Torres Ortega

Funeral services for Maria Torres Ortega, age 73, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk. Reverend Tim DeFor will officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Maria died Monday, April 7, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Maria de Jesus Torres was born May 3, 1951, in Veracruz, Mexico. She was blessed with six children: Minerva, Jesus, Ana, Yelitza, Benito, and Pedro. Maria was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton, Texas.

Maria is survived by her children; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; father, Candelario Cerda, Sr.; sister, Eulogia Flores; and her brother, Candelario Cerda, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Josefa Cerda; brothers, Efren and Pedro; and her sister, Josefina.
