Marvin D. Praeuner

Funeral services for Marvin D. Praeuner, age 83, of Battle Creek, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Reverend Joseph Leech will officiate, with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Battle Creek.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Steffen Mortuary in Battle Creek is in charge of arrangements.

Marvin died Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Marvin Dale Praeuner was born March 30, 1941, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Paul and Hilda (Leubcke) Praeuner. He grew up on the family farm south of Battle Creek. Marvin graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1959. 

On December 26, 1965, Marvin married Carol Hynek at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce, Nebraska.

Marvin and Carol owned and operated Marv’s Market until they retired in 1983. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards. Marvin loved his time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

For 59½ years, Marvin served the community of Battle Creek on the Fire and Rescue Department.

Marvin is survived by his son, Robert “Bob” (Kally) Praeuner, Sr. of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Robert, Jr. (fiancée Mariah Kramer), Alexis (Jordan) Keezer, and Reagan Praeuner (William Parks); great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Arianna; brother, Lawrence (Gladys) Praeuner of Battle Creek; sister, Caroline Klemz of Indiana; special niece, Lynn (Ron) Kramer of North Platte; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol (2019); and brother-in-law, Harlan Klemz. 

Memorials are suggested to the Battle Creek Fire and Rescue or St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.
