Mary Eleanor (Peterson) Klinetobe was born June 5, 1939, in Laurel, Nebraska to Gustaf “Gus” and Eleanor Peterson. Mary was the second oldest of four children. She attended Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln, Nebraska where she earned an RN degree in the class of 1959. Mary had very fond memories of her Bryan nursing years and her children were the beneficiaries of having a nurse as a mother. The Merck manual was well used and saved many a visit to the doctor’s office.
Upon graduation, Mary started work for the Norfolk Regional Center where she met her husband. Donald Klinetobe and Mary were married in 1960 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Upon leaving the Regional Center, they formed a partnership in the construction trade, building apartments, commercial buildings, and homes.
Don and Mary had five children. Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, and sewing, but her greatest joy came from her deep and profound faith in God.
Don and Mary both enjoyed traveling and her family has very fond memories of various trips.
Mary loved her natural and spiritual family in her fellowship meetings.
She is survived by her children Pauline Waterreus, Steve Klinetobe, Don (LeAnn) Klinetobe, Dan (Dalena) Klinetobe, and Mike (Janice) Klinetobe; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Donavan and Walden; sister, Elizabeth “Betty”; son-in-law, Marco Waterreus; and her grandson, Andrew Waterreus.
