Mary Smalley

Mary H. Smalley, age 77, of Norfolk, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at her home in Norfolk.

Services will be at a later date.

Mary H. Smalley was born in Creighton, Nebraska on November 7, 1946, to parents, Don and Mildred “Millie” Schwartz.

Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and nurse. She spent much of her career as a nurse at Norfolk Senior High School, where she loved and cared for all of her students greatly. She found much joy in her multiple volunteering roles in and around Norfolk after her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Denny” Smalley; parents, Don and Millie Schwartz; and niece, Maggie Schwartz.

Mary is survived by her sons, Trent and Travis (Kirstin) Smalley; sister, Jean Rempfer of Lincoln NE; brothers, Joel Schwartz of Creighton, NE, and Ed Schwartz of Omaha, NE; and grandkids, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved so much.

Memorial donations may be made to Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska or Faith Regional Foundation.
