A Memorial Service for Milton J. Bethune, age 78, of Wayne, Nebraska, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2026, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Reverend Jim Splitt will officiate.
Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
He passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Milton James was born April 17, 1947, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Earl and Dorothy (Staben) Bethune. He grew up in Randolph, Nebraska. Milton was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Randolph. He graduated from Randolph High School.
Following graduation, Milton joined the United States Air Force and proudly served our country from July of 1965 until December of 1968.
After his military service, Milton farmed with his father until 1981.
Milton was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa and a member of American Legion Post 159 in Beemer, Nebraska. In July of 2024, he received a Quilt of Valor from Sandra Fuoss of Lyons.
Milton is survived by his sons, Jamie (Dawn) Bethune of Onawa, IA, Scott (Jenee) Bethune of Columbus, NE, and Nic (Leah) Bethune of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Cody, Will, Cole, Ashtyn, Shelby, Rylan, and Taeya; and sister, LaNeta (Robert) Berger of Norfolk, NE.
