Orma Jane was born in Humboldt, Nebraska, to Charles Washington Yocum and Ina Iva (Colson) Yocum on July 9, 1929. She attended Humboldt public schools and graduated in 1947. Post high school, she worked as a telephone operator and in the office of Lincoln Telephone Company. She married Gorge E. Lang in Humboldt, Nebraska, on January 6, 1949. The couple had one daughter, Brenda (Lang) Jones. George worked for public power districts, which led them to live in several Nebraska communities, including Tobias, Valentine, and O'Neill. While in O'Neill, Orma worked at Sears for 25 years. She was active in various community organizations, including Methodist Church groups, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, and Rebecca Lodge. In retirement, the Langs enjoyed wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona, for 21 years. More recently, she lived in Norfolk, Nebraska, and was active at the Norfolk Senior Center.
Orma and George were avid campers and travelers. Orma enjoyed making new friends and playing cards. Her favorite was bridge. She especially loved camping with her grandsons, Eric and Travis. Orma was a lifelong Husker fan and particularly enjoyed the success of the women's volleyball team.
Orma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ina Yocum; husband, George Lang; brother Orevill C "AB" Yocum: sister Lorene Yocum Schultz: and son in law Larry D. Jones.
