Funeral services for Pete L. Hoskinson, age 83, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Pastor Mike Gardner will officiate, with burial in McCoy Cemetery in Meadow Grove, Nebraska.
Military honors will be provided by United States Navy Honor Guard, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7603, American Legion Post 170, and American Legion Riders.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the chapel.
Pete died Saturday December 23, 2023, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Pete L. Hoskinson was born October 17, 1940, in Madison, Nebraska to Harold “Skip” and Edna (Rynearson) Hoskinson. He entered the Navy at a young age.
On January 13, 1974, Pete married Kathy Peterson in Lincoln, Nebraska. After years of looking for a hometown, the couple settled down in Battle Creek. Pete worked at Affiliated Foods for many years until retirement and continued to be the primary caregiver for Kathy until her passing in 2003.
Pete loved college football and was an avid Husker fan. He also enjoyed talking about the bible. He liked singing silly songs and making up names for them. What Pete loved the most was his time with his children and grandchildren as they grew up.
He is survived by his children, Jesse (Chris) Elizalde of Michigan, Scott (Angela) Hoskinson of Norfolk, Wendy (Shannon) Jahnke of Norfolk, Matt (Jaime) Hoskinson of Omaha, and Josh Hoskinson of Omaha; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Isaac; four sisters; seven brothers; three nieces; and four nephews.
