Rachel Tovar, daughter of Pilar and Micaela (Arreola) Vazquez, was born April 17, 1974, in Gary, Indiana. She spent much of her childhood in McAllen, Texas before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska, for her last few years of high school. After graduation she traveled and worked a series of odd jobs. At age 21, she was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Destinee.
She worked for Hyatt for 13 years as a reservation specialist.
Rachel was family-oriented and loved being a mother. Aside from Destinee, she helped raise six additional children, instilling in them her solid values and strong faith.
She loved traveling, including places such as Mexico, California, and Las Vegas. Rachel enjoyed gambling and was especially passionate about BINGO at the Knights of Columbus, where you could find her every week. She had a wicked sense of humor.
Rachel is survived by her daughter, Destinee Acosta; nephews, Tiego and Tavian Vazquez; brother, Tony Vazquez; and various nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mickey Rubio; and aunt/godmother, Juanita Ramirez.
