Funeral Services for Reuben J. Prince, age 95, of Norfolk, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue. Reverend Gordon Braun will officiate. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, with military honors by Army National Guard Honor Guard, American Legion Post 16, and VFW Post 1644. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the chapel. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Reuben passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Reuben Jean was born in Winside, Nebraska to Earnest and Louise (Janssen) Prince.
He served in the United States Army from March of 1951 until March of 1953.
Reuben married Majol (Wheeler) Hinken on September 27, 1958 in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Reuben worked as a mechanic for the City of Norfolk. He retired after 33 years of dedicated service. Reuben was a longtime member of the Norfolk VFW Post 1644 and American Legion Post 16.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles, hunting, fishing, camping and trips to the casino. Over the years, Reuben and Majol enjoyed traveling around the United States. During the winter season, Reuben and Majol would travel to their beach home in Texas.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife, siblings Marvin Prince, Shirley Cook, Evelyn Faubel and Phyllis Matya, and sons-in-law Kent Quigley, Steve George and Merle Frank.
Reuben is survived by his children Jim (Pam) Prince of Norfolk, Becky Quigley of Norfolk, Bob (Carla) Hinken of Norfolk, Helen Frank of Norfolk, Jan (Dave) Pinkston of Leigh and Peggy George of League City, TX, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, siblings Mary Pittet of Plainview, Linda Weich of Norfolk, and Jean Kelley of OK, and many nieces and nephews.
