Mass of Christian Burial for Richard M. Wozniak, Sr., age 95, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Gregory Carl will be celebrant. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison, with Military Honors by the Army National Guard Honor Guard, American Legion Post 35, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5763.
Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Richard passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.
Richard M. Wozniak, Sr. was born November 28, 1928, on a farm in Nance County, Nebraska. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Grand Island in 1946. Following graduation, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 28, 1946. He served as part of the occupational forces in Japan until he was honorably discharged on August 27, 1949.
After his military service, Richard earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University in 1954.
On September 9, 1951, Richard married Evalyn Pickett in Ruthven, Iowa.
During his long career as a city planner, he developed and assisted in the implementation of comprehensive plans for dozens of communities in Nebraska, Illinois, and Michigan. He also was the Planner/Administrator of the Madison County Joint Planning and Zoning Department from 1984 to July 1996, as well as the Director of the Norfolk Department of Planning and Community Development from 1986 to 1994. Richard was a charter member of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners and was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Community Planners in 2006.
He is survived by his children, Rick (Jackie) Wozniak of Hoskins, Steve Wozniak of Omaha, Debra Wozniak of Bloomington, IL, and Karen DeBoer of Gurley, NE; grandson, Patrick Wozniak of Hoskins; sister, Evelyn Langston, Kensington, CA; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Daniel (Helen) Wozniak and Shirley (Ed) Agey; and son-in-law, Randy DeBoer.
