Rita Roenfeldt

Memorial services for Rita M. Roenfeldt, age 82, of Stanton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Nancy Jacobs, PMA will officiate, with burial in Stanton Cemetery.

Visitation with family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Home for Funerals - Stanton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Roenfeldt died Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Stanton Health Center.

Rita Marie Roenfeldt was born January 8, 1942, in Norfolk, NE to R. Jerome and Lisetta (Ott) Moritz. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1959. On April 2, 1961, Rita married her high school sweetheart, Orville Roenfeldt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. They farmed east of Stanton prior to moving into Stanton in 1967.

Rita dedicated 42 years to public office, serving the last 32 years as County Clerk and Clerk of the District Court for Stanton County. 

Rita and Orville enjoyed cheering on the Huskers and went to many bowl games together. She also loved traveling with her sisters to destinations such as Rome, the Holy Land, and Tokyo. In her free time, Rita loved to read, bowl, and play cards and board games with friends and family. 

Rita is survived by her four children, Deb (Kirk) Morgan, Rich (Jill) Roenfeldt, and Cheryl McCollum, all of Norfolk, and Willy (Lisa) Roenfeldt of Stanton; six grandchildren, Mariah (Sam) Newmyer of Sutton, NE, Brodie (Katie) Morgan of Manhattan Beach, CA, Sydney (Lake) Thompson of Fairbanks, AK, Josie and Adrianna Roenfeldt of Lincoln, NE and Lilly Roenfeldt of Stanton; four great-grandchildren, Judson and Joah Newmyer, and River and Lainey Thompson; sisters, Rachael Hansmire of Kensington, CA and RaeJean Petersan of Bella Vista, AR; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Ken Throener; and brothers-in-law, Art Hansmire and Douglas Petersan.

Rita succumbed to a 12 year on and off battle with cancer. Although we are heartbroken, we find peace knowing she no longer has to endure the pain, treatments, or anxiety that cancer brought.
