Robert M. "Bob" Dendinger

Mass of Christian Burial for Robert M. “Bob” Dendinger, age 84, of Hartington, formerly of Randolph, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph. Reverend William Targy will be celebrant, with interment in the church cemetery. 

The Mass will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. 

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the church, with a 10:00 a.m. Rosary.

Bob passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Accura Healthcare in Hartington.

Robert M. “Bob” Dendinger was born June 8, 1941, northwest of Hartington, Nebraska to Leo and Theresa (Becker) Arens Dendinger. He attended country school District 108, which was only one mile from the family farm. After graduating from St. Francis High School in 1959, Bob directed his attention to crop and livestock production. His brother Don joined him in a partnership in 1965, and his other brother Tom joined them for four years before he left for technical college.

The partnership operated until 2010. Bob had planted all of the crops every year but one since 1959 and had harvested them all since 1956 until he finally retired in 2014.

Bob was a member of St. Francis de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph, where he was an usher for over 45 years, and had been a sacristan since 2008.

He enjoyed keeping up with national and world events, and liked geography and science. Bob visited six different countries during two trips to Western Europe. He traveled to Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, seven Canadian provinces, five South American countries, The United Kingdom, Ireland, and most of the lower 48 states.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Francis Arens in 1977; and sister-in-law, LaVerne Arens in 2007.

He is survived by his brothers, Don (Jane) Dendinger of Randolph and Tom (Ann) Dendinger of Norfolk; friend, Linda Severude of Eu Claire, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
