Rollie passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.

Rolland Lee Lorensen was born March 4, 1943, in Salina, Kansas to Ervin and Donna (Lovett) Lorensen. His family moved to Pilger, Nebraska after World War II ended in 1945.

Rollie started first grade in Pilger when he was 4½ years old. He continued on to other schools in the area, including Stanton High School. Rollie loved working on cars at a young age. No project was too big for him, including swapping transmissions!

In 1961, Rollie went to basic training at Ft. Ord, California. After that, he worked here as an apprentice carpenter for two years with his uncle, Tony Lovett, a local house builder. Having three relatives who built houses, he soon became confident to launch out to build or repair houses himself.

Rollie was always eager for adventure! He took off to California with friends when he was young. In 1964, he became a fireman in the Santa Barbara area. He later worked at a gas station in Santa Barbara. Rollie soon took it over when seeing it wasn’t run well.

In September of 1968, Rollie went to sea as part of a ship’s crew for six months.  He then returned to Santa Barbara as a fireman for a few more years until 1973.

Rollie joined the Global Associates in the Marshall Islands in February of 1977 as their Chief Fireman for four years. He loved his time on the islands.

He also wanted to be a truck driver. Rollie came back and drove across the country for 20 years.

In 1999, Rollie returned to Nebraska when his mother was aging and hoping to have a quieter life. There he continued to work on houses. It was during this time that he met Marlene Reichmuth as she had moved back into the area to take care of her aging mother.

Rolland married Marlene Kay Reichmuth on December 31, 2019, in Stanton, Nebraska. The couple enjoyed a relationship together for 22 years.

Rollie was involved in Stanton City Council, Stanton Rescue Squad, and the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughter, Laura Lemp; granddaughter, Tristen Lemp; and sister, Lisa Archer.

Rollie was preceded in death by his parents.
