Memorial services for Ronald Schellpeper, age 90, of Stanton, Nebraska have been rescheduled for a later date.

Ronald died Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Stanton Health Center.
Ronald Eugene Schellpeper, son of Harold and Hazel (Pont) Schellpeper, was born March 3, 1933, on his family’s farm near Stanton, Nebraska. Ronald attended Country School District 23 and graduated from Stanton High School in 1950. On April 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to JoAnne Denney at New England Congregational Church in Stanton. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Brad, Tamara, and Kim.
After their marriage, Ronald and JoAnne lived on the original Schellpeper homestead. Family was very important to Ronald. He was beloved “Uncle Ronnie” to his nieces and nephews and was loved and admired by his children’s friends. Ronald loved animals, especially dogs and cats which often followed him around the farm.
Ronald enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and friends. Places enjoyed were Walt Disney World, a golfing excursion to Hawaii, a trip to his maternal and paternal ancestral homelands of England and Germany, where he always enjoyed a trip to the local pub for a cold beer. Ronald was an avid football fan and attended University of Nebraska home and away football games. Ronald played league bowling and golf and was a member of several card clubs. Ronald also loved music. He played the accordion, sang in the church choir and sang duets with his wife JoAnne.
He was a lifetime member of the New England Congregational Church UCC and served as a member and officer of the Board of Trustees for many years. Ronald was the first tenor in the church men’s octet. He was a member of the District 23 School Board for many years and held many offices including president during his tenure. Ronald also served as the director of the Stanton County Rural Fire District #1 Rural Board for 27 years. He was a member of the Stanton County Feeder’s Organization for many years and during his tenure, he served as secretary and president. Additionally, Ron was a member of the University of Nebraska Athletic Department’s Beef Club.
Ronald is survived by his wife, JoAnne; children, Robert (Lynnette) Schellpeper of Stanton, Brad (Cinthia) Schellpeper of Wood River, Tamara (Robert) Stassen of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Kim Schellpeper of Lincoln; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren with another on the way; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daryl; sister, Veryl Jackson; and nephew, Jim Jackson.
