Funeral services for Ruth L. Lorenzen, age 84, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Reverend Ray Wilke will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the chapel.
Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth died Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Ruth L. Lorenzen, daughter of Gotthilf and Elta (Herbolsheimer) Jaeger, was born November 25, 1940, in Wayne, Nebraska. She attended Winside Public School, graduating in 1958. Ruth married Harry Lorenzen on November 5, 1968, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winside. She worked for Drs. James, Walker, and Hybil, Optometrists.
She loved gardening and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Ruth was known for her dry sense of humor which made us all laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Harry, Sr. and Doris; brother and sister-in-law, George and Janice Jaeger; and brothers-in-law, Jim Melcher, Skip Haskett, and Gene Jorgensen.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harry; siblings, Jeanette (Bob) Vahle, Mary (Sam) Burtwistle, Carol Jorgensen, Ernie (Dianne) Jaeger, and Dale (Ruthie) Jaeger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
