Sandra "Sandy" K. McGrath

A celebration of life for Sandra K. “Sandy” McGrath, age 85, of Norfolk, will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on November 15, 2025, at VFW Post 1644, 316 W. Braasch Avenue, in Norfolk.

Sandy passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Sandra K. “Sandy” McGrath was a kind and generous member of the community and touched so many lives. Her passion was working with senior citizens, the foster care program, and she owned a group home and independent living business for 30 years.  It wasn't a business to her; she truly loved all the girls who came to live with her and wanted to make a difference. Her wish for everyone was to be happy.

Sandra was born on October 7, 1939, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Irvin Cline and Myrtle Moerike. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1957 and was married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1958 to Lawrence McGrath.

Sandra is survived by her children, Larry McGrath Jr. of Norfolk, NE, Kenneth McGrath of Norfolk, NE, Michelle McGrath of Norfolk, NE, Jennifer Nadkarni (Sharad Nadkarni) of Evans, GA, Kyle McGrath of Omaha, NE, and Chad McGrath of Norfolk, NE.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin McGrath, Adrian McGrath, Zack Ryeburg (Katie Ryeburg), Kenny McGrath (Shelly McGrath), Jessi McGrath (Steven Poindexter), Matthew McGrath (Sandra McGrath), Mitchell Nadkarni, Maya Nadkarni, and Meghan Nadkarni. Sandra also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence McGrath; her sister, Noreen Sattler; grandson, Cole McGrath; and her parents, Irvin and Myrtle.
