Sandra Kay “Sandy” Ritzdorf, age 71, of Norfolk, Nebraska died on Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center, 401 N. 18th St., Norfolk. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.

Sandy was born August 11, 1953, to Gilbert and Catherine “Kitty” (Boesch) Ritzdorf and grew up on a farm five miles west of Cedar Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
She attended grade school at Cedar Rapids Public School. A childhood surgery around age eight left her needing to relearn how to walk and talk. It also decreased her vision. Consequently, Sandy attended high school at the then named School for the Visually Impaired in Nebraska City, Nebraska and graduated in May of 1975. After graduation, she worked at Goodwill Industries.
Moving to Norfolk in 1987, Sandy lived at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center until her death. She loved country music, especially Ronnie Milsap.
Sandy is survived by brother, Jim Ritzdorf of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law, Diane Ritzdorf; nephews and niece, Eric (Jill) Pribnow, John (Karma) Pribnow, Andrew (Shaanii-Grace) Ritzdorf, Craig (Jacquelyn Robertie) Ritzdorf, and Katie (Ritzdorf) Cook; as well as eight great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou (Roger) Pribnow; and brother, Dan Ritzdorf.
Thank you to the many friends and family that showed so much kindness to Sandy.
Donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Rehab and Care Center in Norfolk, NE or the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired in Nebraska City, NE.
