Sherry A. (Swanson) Scheurich

Sherry A. (Swanson) Scheurich, 86, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2025, in San Antonio, TX.

Sherry was born in Emerson, Nebraska, to Carl and Dorothy (Stecker) Swanson on January 9, 1939. She graduated from Homer High School and attended Wayne State College in Nebraska. She married Colonel James E. Scheurich on November 28, 1959, in Dakota County. Sherry worked as a bookkeeper in the banking industry.

She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) for 57 years, as well as a member of Daughters of the Nile, Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Supreme Daughters of Mokanna, and the Reserve Officers Association (ROA). She was an expert bridge player and participated in many card clubs over the years. She and her husband were involved in the American Volkssport Association and proudly walked in all 50 states, in addition to taking part in international events. Sherry loved traveling the world and was a devoted fan of all Nebraska Husker sports, as well as the San Antonio Spurs.

Above all, Sherry cherished spending quality time with her family and was always the first to the table for games or cards.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her parents, Carl and Dorothy; and her brother, Carl Roger Swanson.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie Dreher of San Antonio, TX; Jill (Mark) Carpenter of Center, TX; and Jamie (Allen) Prinsloo of McKinney, TX; as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on April 28 at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, Norfolk, NE, with an OES funeral ceremony to follow.

Graveside service will be held on April 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.

Reception immediately following the graveside service at the Home for Funerals Chapel.
