Funeral services for Shirley J. Martens, age 90, Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m., February 10, 2026, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Chaplain Gordon Braun will officiate, with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visitation will be February 9, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel.

Shirley passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk, surrounded by her family.
Shirley J. Martens was born on June 28, 1935, in Clearwater, Nebraska to Darrel and Mildred (Anderson) Hoffman. She graduated from Clearwater High School in 1953. On April 26, 1952, Shirley married Dale Martens in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
She worked for Norfolk Public Schools in Food Service for 27 years, retiring in 1997. Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale (2006); four brothers; two sisters; and one grandson.
She is survived by her children, Vickie (Robert) Jenkins, Cynthia (Ron) Nitz, Daniel Dale (Bev) Martens, and Tom (Patty) Martens all of Norfolk; ten grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Cleveland of Lincoln and Maxine Brachle of Norfolk; brother, Larry Hoffman of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
