She passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Stanton Health Center in Stanton, Nebraska.
Lucille was born September 18, 1930, to William and Clara (Pflanz) Loberg on the family farm north of Carroll, Nebraska. She attended rural school and graduated from St. Frances de Chantel High School in Randolph, Nebraska in 1947. Lucille graduated from Wayne State College with a teaching certificate and taught in rural schools in Cedar and Wayne Counties.
Then for sixteen years, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Randolph and Norfolk. Finally, from 1973 to 1992, Lucille worked in the business office at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk until she retired.
In retirement, she continued to serve the community as a childcare provider, a substitute teacher, and Red Cross volunteer. She also worked at Home Instead Senior Care. Lucille enjoyed her volunteer work at Sacred Heart Parish. She was very active in the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society along with various other church activities. Her Catholic faith was monumental in her life.
Lucille loved meeting new people to see if they had a connection somehow. She loved to tell stories and always had a good joke to tell.
Lucille loved to garden and helped maintain the flower beds at Sacred Heart Church and Rectory. Her love of gardening and flowers gave her great joy, and she passed that on to many of her nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, William “Bud” and Monica Loberg; brother-in-law, Bud Tharp; and niece, Margaret Tharp.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Tharp of Omaha; and nieces and nephews, Ann Geary of Lincoln, Brian Tharp of Norfolk, Lynn Whitmore of Port Angeles, WA, Lora Busch of Campbellsburg, KY, Karen Thiele, Paula Swerczek, Clara Parker, Roberta Christiansen, and Billy Loberg all of Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Altar Society or the Catholic Daughters.
