Mass of Christian Burial for Vergene W. “Jeanne” Ballantyne, age 87, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Patrick McLaughlin will be the celebrant.
Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery and a reception will follow at Black Cow Fat Pig.
The Mass will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.

Jeanne passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, after a long and love-filled life. Her memory lives on in her beloved family and too many friends to name.
Vergene W. “Jeanne” Ballantyne was born February 3, 1937, in Gering, Nebraska. She graduated from Norfolk High School. In 1957, Jeanne graduated from the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
On December 28, 1957, Jeanne married Byron Ballantyne at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. In this marriage, she had three children, Nancy, Julie, and Joel. Alongside her husband, they ran a successful family business, Ballantyne’s Furniture.
Jeanne loved spending time with her grandkids, weekends at the lake, traveling - especially to Mexico, and entertaining. She was a devoted bridge player and an avid golfer.
She served as Past President of Our Ladies of Lourdes Ladies Association, President of the Norfolk County Club Ladies Association, and Chairman of the Norfolk Blood Association.
She is survived by her husband, Byron; children, Nancy (David) Brewer of Poulsbo, WA, Julie (Joe) Hales of Norfolk, and Joel (Laura) Ballantyne of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Abi, Charles, and Hanna; and four great-grandchildren.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel Larson; and brothers, Maynard (Joyce) Larson and Merlin (Roberta) Larson.
