Funeral services for Weldon A. Marotz, age 91, of Stanton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Reverend Jason Schulz will officiate. Interment will be in the Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Weldon passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Weldon Arthur Marotz was born October 12, 1932, in rural Stanton County to Hilda Schellpeper Marotz and Arthur Marotz. He was baptized November 6, 1932, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hoskins, Nebraska and confirmed April 28, 1946, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran by R.F. Bittorf.
Weldon attended church at Trinity in Hoskins until 1952. He then became a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stanton, Nebraska, and continued as a member of St. John’s for the remainder of his life.
Weldon attended Bega School through the tenth grade, at which time it closed. He then went to Stanton High School and graduated with the Class of 1950.
Weldon married Lois Kuester on June 29th, 1952, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in rural Wisner, Nebraska by Pastor Hildebrand.
Children born to Weldon and Lois include Weldon A., Jr., Lynnette Rae, Michael M., and Todd W.
Weldon farmed grain and livestock until he moved to Stanton in December of 1982. He continued to help on the farm for many years. He also worked security at Vulcraft for 11 years. He served on St. John’s church council for many years, SCS, ASC, and Stanton Nursing Home Board. Weldon was elected to Stanton County Public Power District, serving on that board for 37 years.
Weldon was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; daughter, Lynnette Rae Marotz Barr; brother, Maynard Marotz; parents; granddaughter, Leslie Barr; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Weldon is survived by three sons, Weldon A., Jr. (Debbie) Marotz of Bloomington, Illinois, Michael M. (Diann) Marotz of Stanton, NE, and Todd W. (Jodie) Marotz of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
