Bill passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
William Charles Locke, son of Robert and Norma Jean (Ridder) Locke, was born June 9, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, where his father was stationed in the Air Force. They moved back to Stanton soon after Bill was born, and he graduated from Stanton High School in 1973.
On June 14, 1984, he married Michelle Matejka in Stanton. Together, they raised two sons, Jeremy and Brandon.
For many years, Bill worked as a carpenter, owning his own company, Bill Locke Construction. He shared his expertise on the Stanton City Planning Commission for 40 years.
An outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed fishing, and hunting, especially with his dogs, Jody and Tara. He and Michelle loved to drive around the countryside looking out for pelicans and eagles. Bill was proud of the special care he took to maintain his yard and tend to his garden tomatoes and corn. He was a fan of the Boston Celtics and St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
Above all, Bill was a loving family man and a very involved grandfather to his two granddaughters, who always looked forward to spending time with grandpa when he would enthusiastically join them in their make-believe playing with toys, and especially family game night, or “dime time,” as the girls called it.
Bill is survived by his parents, Robert and Norma Jean Locke; wife, Michelle Locke; son, Jeremy Michaels, his wife Jennifer, and their daughters Abigail and Isabel; son, Brandon Locke and his wife Lindsay Blackwell; brother, Russell Locke and his wife Glenda Stone; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
